My Background
Education -
I am a Mechanical Engineer from Brisbane, Australia, with a B.E.(Hons) from the University of Queensland, focused on mechanical design, design for manufacture, and product development.
Current Role -
I currently work at Axiom Project Services as a CAPEX Project Controls Engineer, driving project controls for the Harmony HV Gold Mine, coordinating projects, tracking budgets, and reporting to the executive team.
Industry Experience -
Before this, I was a Divisional Service and Product Improvement Engineer at Cummins Power Generation, leading cross-functional product improvement initiatives across APAC using FMEA, 8D, and Lean Six Sigma. Earlier, a placement at Glencore Rolleston Coal Mine saw me design a replacement drill guard verified to ISO 3449:2005 via FEA and develop a preventive maintenance schedule for a new fuel facility.
Thesis -
My thesis with Queensland Rail's Rolling Stock Division produced a wireless wheelset measurement system, a full mechatronic device spanning mechanical design, electronics, and microcontroller programming.
Personal Work -
Alongside my industry career, I founded a film digitising equipment business, designing and manufacturing over 1,000 scanning kits sold worldwide, and deliver design and prototyping services in partnership with F3 Industrial Design.
I am drawn to the full-stack engineering challenge, from first principles to finished product.
Past Projects
Thesis - Train Wheelset Measurement Device
Designed and built a device capable of recording a full wheel-roundness profile for the detection of flat spots on railway wheelsets.
DSLR Film Scanning System
Film photography is growing fast, but dedicated negative scanners cost $1,000 – $4,000+. After being frustrated by the same problem myself, I designed a complete, self-contained scanning rig that turns any DSLR or mirrorless camera into a precision film scanner and made it cheap enough to ship as a consumer kit.
